A trailer for "The Exorcist: Martyrs" surfaced Friday at New York Comic Con, with Scarlett Johansson taking on a role tracking a demonic killer. The film is directed by Mike Flanagan and functions as both a continuation and a reimagining of the long-running horror franchise.

Flanagan says the project leans into "The Exorcist III" and describes it as the most frightening film of his career. He told reporters the film was built to unsettle audiences and that it made him wildly uncomfortable during production.
